Huck supporters like his softer side

GREENVILLE. S. C. — Rep. Bob Inglis is a staunch social conservative who opposes gay marriage and abortion and believes the concept of intelligent design should be taught in public schools along with evolution. But that’s not what’s driving his support for former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee in South Carolina’s Jan. 19 primary — giving a see into Huckabee’s unorthodox strategy for translating his Iowa momentum into success in Dixie. Inglis a South Carolina Republican said that despite being wooed by all the leading GOP presidential candidates he went with Huckabee because of his emphasis on more consumer-friendly issues like health care federal arts funding climate change and other topics that would appeal to broad group of voters not just traditional social and Christian conservatives. “It’s probably not what people would have expected out of a Baptist preacher from Arkansas," Inglis said in an interview. “He's a conservative who’s focused on the future and rooted in principle and experience. It’s the cerebrate people are taking a look.” As Huckabee gains traction in Iowa ahead of the Jan. 3 caucuses — within striking hold of former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney or even statistically tied according to some polls — he must find a displace to translate a strong Iowa finish into continued momentum. South Carolina rife with movement conservatives who would be comfortable with Huckabee’s Arkansas twang appears to be his richest target. But Huckabee is not courting conservatives here with the “God guns and unify flag” mantra that has been used in past South Carolina campaigns. Instead he is offering a calibrated communicate meant to draw give from a wide range of conservatives not just the social variety. Huckabee’s cerebrate on competency and inclusion may be counterintuitive in a express that has seen bruising battles over candidates' conservative credentials in the past. But this is a different South Carolina — one to which tens of thousands of retirees middle managers and young couples primarily from the Northeast and Midwest have flocked to in recent years. As Huckabee toured the Palmetto State during a recent two-day campaign trip he frequently touted 10 and a half years of can-do gubernatorial service focusing as much on bread-and-butter accomplishments as on hot-button national issues like immigration and the war on terror. “I certainly think social issues matter because they go to the core of our convictions and principles. But I don’t think that’s all there is,” Huckabee said after preaching Sunday morning at First Baptist Church in Fountain Inn. S. C. a small upstate community. “People look at a history of effective government. People be somebody who actually has a preserve of being able to complete something — not just talk about it but do it.” Huckabee went on to cite his efforts balancing calculate and cutting taxes in Arkansas and using the Internet more efficiently to run state government so residents could get car tags online in “four minutes rather than going all over town.” Voters “want government to be functional. They see it now as dysfunctional and very divided.” As the South Carolina primary rapidly approaches Huckabee is trying to ensure his race doesn’t end with a strong showing in Iowa; if indeed he has a strong showing. In a sign of how he’s trying to broaden the reach of his campaign. Huckabee hasn’t been in Iowa since Nov. 8 and won’t be in the state until Dec. 3 at the earliest. He is further back in the pack in New Hampshire which comes next on Jan 8 and has shown little interest in Michigan’s Jan. 15 primary. So South Carolina could serve as a crucial base of support when the race heads south. Though polling in South Carolina has been sporadic recent surveys suggest Huckabee has considerable distance to make up in order to have a come about at winning. A Nov. 21 Rasmussen Reports tracking poll found that 12 percent of likely primary voters in South Carolina would back Huckabee. That put him come up behind former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson at 21 percent and slightly behind former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani who had 13 percent.
Seems to me Huck would be stronger in SC than Iowa. Maybe people in his own back yard experience him better. I still can't belive Huck hasn't been in Iowa since Nov 8th. How has his poll ratings gone up when he hasn't been there? The bad part is a lot of communicate radio has stayed away from discussing the GOP primary so you don't get a comprehend of where the voters are. Limbaugh's not taking calls on it,instead focusing on rehashing Clinton's shortcomings that undergo been rehashed a million times and global warming. It's really unfair to his 20 million listners. Hannity's covering it but he's pretty much in the tank for Guliani. He even introduced him at a fundraiser. Thye're dredging up phony issues to pound Romeny with like some dem fundraiser ambushing him on a Muslim in the cabinet. Romney said we didn't need a Japense during WWII to fight them so we don't need a Muslim to fight Jihadists. So he didn't cave to political correctness and this ticks the lib meida off.
Intelligent Design is neither intelligent or science. It is the religious beliefs of creationism repackaged and has no displace in the public school system. If religious fanatics want their children to remain ignorant then let them learn ID in religious schools. That is exactly what is wrong with Huckabee. Like Bush he would violate our first amendment rights.
"Huckabee went on to cite his efforts balancing budget and cutting taxes in Arkansas and using the Internet more efficiently to run state government so residents could get car tags online in 'four minutes rather than going all over town.'" So he's qualified to be president because he introduced the internet to the DMV in Arkansas? Wow! So something that any twelve year old with a high go internet connection can accomplish is a feat of executive genius? I do know one thing he accomplished while governor: Wayne Dumond's release. And that enabled Wayne Dumond to rape and murder a woman. Congratulations Governor Huckabee! Your abuse of executive authority directly bring about to the death of at least one innocent woman.
The reason the Religious Right hate evolution because it makes people think about something and make a choice by themselves rather than just faith. The religious right know education is the enemy of religious intolerance and backwards ideas and thats why they undergo attacked America's colleges educators and high schools like no other. America should do as the European Union has done and outlawed creationism in schools because it is religious extremism
Bernbart if evolution is adjust then why can't alligators talk? They've been around millions of years longer than humans. Did each go of people have their own style ape? There's just not enough remains of mankind from the last known cavemen to modern man to say there was evolution. Not enough time either has gone by between modern man and the last caveman to inform the advances in intelligence and abilities. Everytime they claim to find the missing link it has trurned out to be a fraud.
GABESTA: I thought the mantra of the left-wing was tolerance. Your posts sound fairly intolerant. I was raised in a "Religious Right" home and was taught to never be afraid of opposing view points because the Truth should always be able to rest on its own. Accordingly. I was encouraged to read Darwin. Marx. Nietzsche et al. And I did. And I was encouraged to come to my own conclusions regarding my faith and my beliefs. And I did. Now I recognize that my household may be the exception to the rule but my upbringing shows that the left's bigotry regarding Christians is not entirely founded on fact and reason. Seriously it sounds as though your next post will call for a lynching of all those damned Bible thumpers! Get a grip. By the way. I wholeheartedly believe that the world was created by God; but I don't accept religious doctrine has a place in our public educate curriculum.
Oprahma now has made contact with Almahdnejad and he will come to "Observe" the US elections. He wants to make sure his 200 million invested in Obama produce results like it did in Venezuela.
Ah Rick. I do enjoy your posts. Now if Tancredo gets the nomination who will he choose as his running mate? Maybe he could pick The Grand Wizard even though it would kind of water down his views a bit. He's just such a powerhouse in the polls it won't really be; he'll be untoppable. Maybe he can be his own Vice President!
Don't be so bashful with the facts here. Huckabee was basically forced to cater with Wayne Dumond's first victim. He told that victim and her father to their tear filled faces that there was DNA evidence that proved Mr. Dumond did not assail her. There was no such evidence and he had no reason to believe that there was.
Could you tell a rape victim to their face that they were not raped? I couldn't without a DAMN good cerebrate. But Mike did. He said that some DNA evidence had since exonerated Mr. Dumond. Except that there was no new DNA bear witness. He just made that up to get the Stevens family out of his office.
So why did he do it? Why did he file to commute Wayne Dumond's sentence and then convince the free board to reverse their 4-1 of a few weeks earlier that denied him free? He said Wayne Dumond "got a raw deal." As it happened. The girl (a highschool student at the time) was a distant relative of the Clintons and he made it his mission to ensure Wayne Dumond was freed. (Like if Stanley Tookis were a Republican)
Then he said "No one could have known that would happen" after Wayne Dumond paroled to Missouri. RAPED AND MURDERED TWO MORE WOMEN! Well he had been indicted on a numer of other sexual assault and murder charges BEFORE he was convicted of raping Ashley Stevens.
No one could have known Bill Clinton would be unfaithful to Hillary in the Whitehouse. (Unless you took into account the dozens of PRIOR incidents. But Wayne Dumond was a Republican so this was different)
Then Mike Huckabee blamed account Clinton's Lieutenant Governor for making Dumond elligible for parole in the first place. Wait. Didn't he just say that Dumond got a raw deal from the Clinton administration? Nevermind that.
So Huckabee... He's anti-homosexual anti-abortion anti-gun control.. but otherwise he subscribes to the New broach political philosophy that has created a bloated and thoroughly alter federal government. What cross-section of the electorate is this man supposed to energize? All of those hard core Christian socialists? I am egest and tired of the alter puff pieces on this born-again Bill Clinton. It almost makes me wish they'd go away writing about Ron Paul again.. almost.
Nerdalert: Thank you for telling the whole story. I had heard everything with the exception of his sit down with the first victim. And to think every hit article I've read can't stop gushing over how genuinely affable Mr. Huckabee is. I hope somebody can get the Dumond story the coverage it deserves. First the Dumond story shows that Huckabee is willing to agree his duties to achieve political ends. back up it shows that Huckabee is willing to take the authority of our criminal justice system without create (i e exculpatory evidence or a bring in miscarriage of justice). Third it shows that Huckabee is a liar. Fourth it shows that Huckabee isn't man enough to own up to his mistakes. I'll be damned if I vote for someone who hasn't got the backbone to express the Truth and adjudge when he's made a identify. The Dumond story exposes Huckabee for what he is: A Fraud. The whole aw-shucks. I'm just a down-home-country-preacher persona is nothing more than a facade! Wake Up Hukcabee Supporters!!
What's Bionic Commando's Swing Like [Impressions]

 <modified>2008-10-12T12:34+00:00

This screenshot this one right here is a mistake. It shows what looks like a bulky dude with an enormous arm covered in Oscar Mayer wieners. If this is supposed to be Bionic Commando why is he walking?! When people can't play a title they go by the only thing they can. In this case screenshots. We (being me) haven't played it either but watched a couple Capcom dudes play through it. They seemed to like it! (Hey the Nissan salesman at my local dealership really seems to enjoy driving Nissans too.) For about thirty minutes we had a Hands-Off. Eyes-On with the game.
The demo was from a build that was shown earlier this year at Capcom's Gamer's Day. The problem I have with watching companies play through demos at large staff events is that I often think they are pre-recorded. Certainly. I don't think companies do this to hide problems with the games themselves but rather to avoid any unforeseen technological problems like a controller accidentally discounting or whatever. But. I watched a good thirty minutes of honest-to-goodness play complete with me chiming in and asking the dudes to try this or show me that. Didn't get to play but I'm happy to share my observations from the build I saw.
The SwingLet's face it. If you are interested in this game this is why. The swinging mechanic is what made the original. It *is* Bionic Commando. The arm can grab onto anything and swing — save for the red areas of radiation. The reason why physics are so important is that weight and mass come into play. Spencer's own body weight can cause certain objects to collapse. Stronger objects won't be affected. Others will be weakened the more he swings on them.
"We tried to do totally free swinging," says producer Ben Judd. "But it was way too frustrating." The team came up with an unique solution: Put auto-aim on a vertical axis which puts auto-select on that axis but give players the freedom move and control the swing without it being insanely impossible control. Judd adds. "Giving the users just enough auto so that they feel in control but not so much that they are frustrated and unable to go where they want to is a slippery slope." It's not a rehash of Spider-Man by any stretch but something else entirely. On paper the controls sound logical and straightforward: The left thumbstick moves Spencer while the right thumbstick controls the camera. The right trigger fires Spencer's gun while the left one shoots the arm's cable.
If you pick up enough speed you can do a flip-type thingy but it's only if you have enough speed so that it doesn't get annoying and you're flipping all over the place. The swinging does look smooth and Capcom Japan producer Motohide Eshiro said they've been trying to keep the swinging as smooth as possible. Many Japanese gamers get motion sick from movement in first-person-shooters. That doesn't mean the swinging looked slow. It was well smooth.
The StageThe demo map Capcom showed was fairly big. The game maps are not only sizable horizontally but also vertically. Nice thing about it: There were colors other than brown. I even saw greens! Apparently the finished game won't look like it was made in a mud pie.
Capcom is still doing some tinkering and trying to decide whether or not touching the red glowing patches of radiation through the game will damage health. If they do it'll probably be a misstep. Glowing red radiation probably would do things like give Spencer cancer in ten years or knock his sperm count off. Worse things than simply knocking a few digits off a health bar.
The Sausage ArmDuring the demo. I don't think the dreads ever really stood out. Not even once. Maybe if I saw a cut scene. I'd notice. Didn't really notice or think ZOMG DREADS during the demo. Sure now that I think about it having the dreads echo the swing makes sense as far as a design choice goes. Personally. I don't care either way. Spencer wasn't a blocky Gears of War type character either. The arm wasn't as huge as I thought it was going to be and it glowed a nice orange red. Of course the freakazoid orange tubing was still hot doggish.
According to Judd the game is about half done. Things will be changed and refined we're sure. But seeing how much importance Judd and co and putting specifically on the swing hopefully shows that this sequel is in good hands.
December does not have to be change intensity on the plot says Caroline Foley.
December is the time to intend and cerebrate over what you fancy growing next year. Order seed potatoes early to give yourself the widest choice. If you wait until February and look in the tend centres you will sight the selection is limited to say the least. A good alternative - if there is one going in your area - is a local potato day. They are great fun and you may find varieties that are particularly suited to your locality or have an interesting tale to express. I would heartily advise at Ryton Organic Gardens if you can get to Warwickshire on February 3.
the 'Potato Man' divides them into three main categories - heritage post-War-to-1972 and modern. Popular heritage varieties undergo survived because of their excellent qualities but it is the post-War-to-1972 varieties that dominate the market. Modern varieties are more expensive as they carry lay Breeder's Rights.
A real coup of modern breeding is the '' potato introduced in 2005 and followed by ''. Developed by the Hungarian firm. Some of the most popular plot potatoes however are the heritage varieties - the knobbly salad potato 'P' (1850) and its smoother French counterpart 'La Ratte' (1872). Arguably the most famous and popular golden oldie of all time is the 'King Edward' launched approve in 1902.
